Default tahoe exhaust set up (stock)

any body ever wonder why the factory does stuff it does. why is it my stock exhaust goes into the muffler as one pipe comes out as two and then goes back into one and exits?

i with you man, i swear the factory is on crack sometimes. on my 2002, after the factory Y pipe, mine split into 2 and went into the muffler and came at as one. basicall yours, but reversed. not sure if that was a mistake, but i hve owned the car since it was new so it def. came from the factory like that.

i think it may be rpm exhaust tunning maybe. by going to two pipes it causes a large area which like a header collector would cause a low pressure area. which wold work for scavenging. but by putting the large "expansion" area further back on the exhaust would make it work for different rpm than if it were closer. its got to be some type of tunning other wise it would be useless. It goes back into the same size pipe as it started out as.
