If you are only doing it for looks, go for it, but most agree that stock wires are fine for these engines, as they are only 6 inches long to begin with.

Appreciate the heads up. Is it worth putting a new set of stock wires on? I'm fixing to put on my cal speed lt's, and am gonna put new ngk tr55 plugs in along with some denso 02 sensors. Truck has 145,xxx on it. Not going for looks just best decisions.

I would do the headers first, because then you will be able to see if the plug wires or boots are touching anywhere. If so, you can get a set with angled boots. My stock boots touched the headers in a couple of places (LPP 1 3/4" LT's), so I got some angled boot wires and they did the trick. Tr55's gapped at .055" are a good choice. And you only need to replace the front O2's, as the rear only monitor the cats and can be tuned out.

But low-mile stock wires aren't a bad idea if you don't have any header clearance problems. I picked up a low-mile stock set from a member on here who upgraded for the cost of shipping.

I had two sets of Taylor wires on the Z28, each set had a couple wires come apart during a plug change. MSD wires are far more durable IMO. But again, there's no real reason for aftermarket wires unless your stockers need to be replaced.

Appreciate the reply guys. I've had my rear 02's shut off for a few years now via hp tuners. I have gutted cats.. I've been getting a few 02 heater codes and fuel mileage has fell of 1-2 mpg. So I'm gonna do everything all at one with a fresh retune.

Probably cheaper than stock wires from AC Delco too.
