TBSS intake install on NBS
#41
I'm pretty sure there are some turbo guys that have well over 600 with the stock NBS intake. There was an article about a turbo Trailblazer SS that went from a NNBS intake to the Fast LSXRT. He went from I think 500 hp and 11lbs of boost, to 505 with 9 lbs of boost. When he turned it back to 11 lbs he made something like 550. It was a big jump from just an intake swap. I'll see if I cant find that article for you.

IIRC the TBSS/NNBS intake is basically a LS6 intake but with long runners to keep low end TQ. What i have read this intake really becomes a performance factor the more mods you have; cam, heads, headers ect.

btw- your sig says you have "angle" headlights. You meant "angel" right?

for those of you losing power when using this manifold, what heads are you running? seems most that complain about a loss are 5.3L's but if you're not running a 799/243/317 head then it should be expected that this manifold would not properly match your head's ports. someone who may know more about the port volume of an 862 vs a 243 chime in. i don't know if the ports are a different shape or volume or both (or the size of the vlaves) for the increased flow they have but if port volume is the difference then the new manifold's runners would be larger than stock LM7 ports which would account for a loss of power due to severe turbulence. again, someone who KNOWS chime in. i'm just speculating and would like to be corrected if i'm wrong so i can know myself.

quick bump...
I'm going to be trying to put my stock truck fuel rails (to keep return/fpr and I think they look better...) onto a tbss intake I picked up, but also with taller ls1 racetronix injectors I have... I know I'll need some custom spacers and longer bolts, but anyone think that might become TOO tall and possibly wobbly? Just curious... haven't measured yet... Really hoping to make this work.
...and dumb question, I haven't looked myself, but maybe someone will know off the tops of their head, is the stock truck fuel rail crossover steel or alu? This way I'll know this week which weld on AN fitting to buy..
Also hey bennettracing, any chance you could make another one of those clean cable brackets??
Oh, and almost forgot to ask, the tbss intake I got seems to have a plug in back where my brake booster vacuum tube attaches on my stocker...? What's the story there? I'm assuming I just have to swap them to use the barb nipple for my hose? How do they come out without breaking?
