Thank you for your help Arthursc2. You are definitely right. It would have been really cheap, lazy and dangerous to do such a small piece like that in a poor way.

I wrote a lot, as I was learning. 1,5, & 6 were quickly out. 3 was a distant third, but I think I found it. Parts should be here within two weeks, and I'll get it mocked up, and get the details and a picture then. Until then, I'll leave you in suspense. I think its better than all of the options I listed, definitely less than half, and incredibly easy.

I'll update down the road with what I have found to add to this. Its all out there, and pretty easy to find. I wanted to find a cheaper way to do this, and the biggest problem I had was the rail. It seemed like such a small fix was requiring a big work around. Long story short, I couldn't find a cost reasonable way to modify the old rail. If you have the tools, spare parts, or are willing to use the cheapest chinese brand then you can do it.

Just so its clear, that factory setup with the square tubed rail that everyone uses #12660709; If you haven't realized it yet, all that is; is the NNBS V8 (tahoe, silverado, yukon, escalade, etc...), and the midsize GMT360 2005-2009 V8 (rainier, envoy, TB, etc..) fuel rail. Rockauto sells it for $110. If you want a new one, I found they were the cheapest option. After tax and shipping you're closer to $130. When this mod was first started, and when most of the threads about it were started, the part was still hard to come by. Not any more. I had forgot about car-part.com. I found the rail 20 min away, and just picked up a new looking rail, (with injectors that I won't use) for $30.

I will add that in all the threads I found (that are mostly started 10 years ago), I didn't find a good video. For now, this might help someone. A 23 min video that breaks it all down in pretty good detail. (He even puts a table of contents in the beginning so you can skip ahead for a quick answer). Also saved me from buying that vacuum rail.

Yeah, it was $30 on Amazon from Goodies Speed. I could have saved a few more bucks, but this part number is for the Wix filter.

Yesterday looked everywhere for the WIX 51522 long oil filter with no luck. Local Oreillys has the short one not the long filter in stock. Ordered from Amazon expected delivery Dec 14th. I have around 800 miles before my 3000 OCI so I'm good... but dammit lol
