Default Tell me if this Exhaust could work...Chevy 5.3 Suburban

So the burb is my new DD when i'm not riding the Harley. It's still the vacation-mobile so I can't risk the drone of Gibson or Magnaflow like my last suburban.

Here's my idea. Let me know what you think. I'd be out about the cost of a knock-off catback or used decent one, but would have the adjustability. Wondering if the OEM muffler is restrictive enough for the flow to go through the bypass enough to sound like it... :

would have to buy 2 cutouts, the electronic baffle, and have a pipe fabbed and weld it all in.

What's the point? Just better sound? Why not just leave the cutout open rather than pipe it back in?

Yes sound would be it. I've bought enough of them to know it won't help MPGs. Plus for that i'd have to start at the motor and work back to make a difference then i'd just assume fire up the hotrod I guess.

The cheaper and way simple way would be to put in cutout #1, but was thinking that if routed through piping and resonator it wouldn't be raspy.

With the stock manifolds and cats it won't be very raspy at all with the cutout open.

If you want to get an idea what an open cutout would sound like, just disconnect the exhaust after the Y pipe and see what that sounds like. That will tell you if just a single cutout is what you're looking for. The stock manifolds and cats quiet it down pretty good as said above.

thanks to both of you...will try that first for the cutout only.
