Default Tell me why you don't like the LS1 Hotcam.

Hey guys the title is self explanatory. I like the Hotcam in my Z28, but damn near everyone over on the Fbody site next door says it's trash. And most people here says it's junk.

I like the power it produces and I'm not running a Blower or Turbo with it. So I'd like to know hwy everyone saiys the Hotcam is Junk. And why does everyone tell me that it don't wok with a Forced Induction setup?

Thanx guys.

I had it in my 4.8 for awhile and it did suck with a turbo. It's not that small of a cam in a 4.8 and it lopes real hard. It took quite a bit of tuning too, to get it to idle and not surge in traffic. The 112 LSA is good if you're staying NA and I've heard the cam likes nitrous, but the lobe lift is lame IMO. I wouldn't put it in anything bigger than a 4.8 though. It's old GEN 2 LT1/4 cam technology applied to a Gen III engine, so it's not really an optimal cam, but it does provide you with a good bang for your buck.

Yeah it's deff. a Spray friendly cam. I had it tuned twice for the surge and it never really took all the surge out of it. I thought it made great power when I put in in the Z car however. Traction became more of a problem after it was installed.

Like quik said by todays specs, tuning capibilities and what has been done as far as cam sawps, for the time it takes to put one in, it is just a small cam, go fer the big one on a swap. The f-bods are just running cams that are bigger, not that it makes the hot cam junk,it is a good cam and makes decent power, it is whatever you like

the cam was also made for a car and not a heavy truck

its a decent cam, but you can get the smaller 208/216 cams and make about the same power. For the money, i'd rather get a 216/220 with 565 lift

525 lift isnt much

also, that cam has always had idle probs also in cars ive seen. The surge was always bad with it
