Default temps w/ 180 t-stat?

i have read through past threads and a lot of people say they don't see any changes in temps w/ a 180 t-stat. i installed one after changing out my water pump this past weekend and i noticed a huge decrease in temps. before the cooler t-stat, the needle on the temp gauge was close to the 210 mark and now it is right in the middle of the 160 and 210 marks. even after the truck has been running for a while it stays on the mark. i haven't had the truck tuned for the cooler t-stat but i do have a superchips programmer. i am not sure if something is wrong but i am a little concerned because of what others have said about their 180 t-stats. so my question is, what could be causing my truck to show that it is running that much cooler when others say their trucks don't?

AN FYI for you: my dad recently ran the superchips tune on a dyno for a Air/fuel ratio read out....it was 10:1....a better tune will net a lot more than what the Superchips can offer. Oh, he had Edelbrock headers, corsa, AEM CAI, MSD wires, '05 electric fans, 3.73's, and the Superchips....I think he is going Wait4me and see what he tunes can do for him.

Now on to your topic: I've have an 180* thermostat that runs a lot cooler than the 195 thermostats. It keeps the coolent flowing when allowing the engine to run cooler. You are where you should be!!
