many of those "big" pumps dont last long at all.

wich 255 do you have. you may not have the right one for high pressure.

i prefer multiple gsl392 pumps like this one on ebay >> http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/WALBR...QQcmdZViewItem

on the fairmont we run one of those at 450+rwhp and with a voltage booster over 600rwhp. thats on a single $120 pump. i put 3 of them on my truck. they are quiet, dependable and cheap.

there are some 255L pumps that are not rated for high presure. by the time they are pushing 60+psi they dont have much flow. you might get by with just swaping to one of the gsl392 pumps unless that is what you allready have.

here is a neat chart that shows what i am talking about and it helps with what james B is saying too.

both of those are 255L pumps but one is rated for high presure and will push more fuel at the high fuel presure you are running. the gsl392 pump is better than the 340 shown on that chart but it gives you an idea of how 2 pumps can both be 255l but one be better than the other for what you are doing.

The ebay link he gave is an inline. See how it comes with straps and hose barbs? I have the Holley 12-914 (same higher pressure need as described by parish) in my tank and the one parish links as my inline.
