Default Thermostat inter-changeability (SP?)

OK I have my LQ9 (2005) in my truck and i just have a few more small things to do before I run it, I had nelson retune my computer for the 5.3-6.0 change w/160 degree therm.

I had a 160 degree therm on my 5.3 (2003) and I remember that I had to get a thermostat with a big built on houseing. the LQ9 has a thermostat that is removeable from the houseing.

Long story short can I use my old one piece unit on my new motor? I think that I can just want you to confirm it.

THANKS ALOT BLAKE

I think that they're a different size or something...I remember that someone tried to match up a newer (04+) t-stat to and older water pump and something didn't fit right...it was a long time ago so I can't remember the details though...

*EDIT* My memory sucks so I could be totally off base here lol...

Yours is an 05, it's the separate t-stat only, 99-03 the t-stat and housing are one piece, and considerably more expensive. Us 99-03's guys can switch to the 04+ style t-stat if we buy the separate housing and 04+ water pump...*I think*, I'm not 100% sure. As I mentioned earlier, I thought I read that the t-stats are a different size or something...
