Thickest Head Gasket...
What is the thickest head gasket you guys would be comfortable runing on a motor with 10-14 psi. through a D-1 Procharger? I've got a Gen I 383 I'm putting together and compression with my heads and pistons is at 9.6:1. With the pistons being hypereutectic and that compression I wouldn't think there would be much room for error when it came to tuning with the blower. So I was going to try to lower the compression a little with a thicker gasket, but was unsure of what would be considered too thick. If everything wasn't already balanced, I'd just buy new pistons. By the way, yes the blower was an after thought, but I couldn't pass up the deal I got on it. Thanks

I would be more inclined to buy new pistons as to buying new heads. The way I see it now, it would cost me another $400 to run forged pistons with lower compression. I would love to have the added insuace of forged pistons, but I want to get this things done and hopefully on the street by mid summer. I've alredy bought pistons twice for this build, that is why the obvious choice of buying new ones is still up in the air.

Most built-blown race engines run around 10.5 to 11:1 SCR on 110.
ive got a buddy that has a daily with 10.5:1 SCR and runs 93 at 5-6lbs no problem. Boost is more efficent than compression but they are one and the same essentially, just because you have more SCR doesnt mean you cant run more boost and make more power, you just need good gas. For daily driving boost levels your fine at 9.6:1, when you get around 14+psi Id start running 110.
I wouldnt **** with your quench area I think your setup sounds good the way it is.

This will stictly be a pump gas motor, I'm not really too affraid of running it with this compression. I'm just concerned about how forgiving it'll be while tuning. We'll be cutting our teeth with the FAST system I have. My buddy knows edit pretty well, so tuning isn't new to him. He had an "accident" while tuning his 6.0 at 14 or 16 lbs. with this blower, which kinda shows you sh*t happens sometimes.
