Ok, here are some numbers of cam specs i threw together... I am trying to keep the DCr around 8.5ish....

option #1
LQ4 with my 58cc PRC heads, stock head gasket (.052)
224/224 .581/.581 114+2
CR = 11.01
DCR = 8.53
overlap -4*

Option #2
LQ4 with my 58cc PRC heads, stock head gasket (.052)
226/226 .585/.585 114+3
CR = 11.01
DCR = 8.50
overlap -2*

Either one of those should be pump gas friendly, have good midrange and idle stable... Option 1 might have a little more lowend and less topend than option 2 given the change in overlap...

now i could throw in a set of cometic .060 head gaskets to drop the compression down some, then i could increase the ICL a tad to compensate, which might allow me to run a little more timing and be even more pump gas friendly....

I vote 06 and newer lq4 with your tsp heads. you get beefier rods with the newer motors right? where are you looking? I would replace the rod bearings, and put arp rod bolts in just as a piece of mind/don't have to mess with it later on a used motor. either way will be fun!

Well i am not throwing kids out of the equation, lets just say the safety measures normally in place to prevent them have been taken out of the equation.... so what happens..... happens

I dunno about super tuning skills... I can cobble some **** together and yep i think if i keep it a mild build my MPG should improve...

Now what my current torque converter is going to do when i add ~80 ft/lbs tq is anyones question.... i am saving up for a Performabuilt L2 and Circle D 3c

I like the idea of the newer motor, but given how david's truck runs it may not be necessary, about cracking the motor open, that is a negative... I don't plan on spinning this one to 7k+ like the 4.8....

gotcha, you going to buy a running motor then? I like the 224/114+2 and leave it at 11.01:1. stock .054 head gaskets. should be a off the like torque monster. and back the verter down to a 3000-3200?
