...I dunno about super tuning skills... I can cobble some **** together and yep i think if i keep it a mild build my MPG should improve...
Now what my current torque converter is going to do when i add ~80 ft/lbs tq is anyones question.... i am saving up for a Performabuilt L2 and Circle D 3c

f4tal, Corey hasn't sent an invite to the new house cause he's been practicing.
Altho the following has me worried.
So, besides midrange, do u prefer low end or top end? Myself, I love low end, if traction is there.

Corey, Ive got all the kent moore tools for putting these motors together by the book if you want to use it if you end up tearing the motor all the way down to a bare shortblock. Youre more than welcome to use them. I could bring them with me when I come up to do the fans.
If your current converter stalls to 3600 with the 4.8 Id say it will be a 4200ish. For semi reference my converter I had behind my 222/224 cammed 5.3 with a 100shot would flash to 3200, with the 418 it went to 4000 or a hair over. Another cammed 5.3 that went to a stock LS2 went from 3400ish to 3800ish. Id say youre in for a 600 or so rpm change but the nice thing is, the part throttle response will stay the same just when you hammer it, it will flash higher

Well that is kinda a good and bad thing about my converter... Should be interesting to say the least.
