Default Thorley vs OBX

I have a completely stock Silverado right now, but I'm looking into headers and all your other basic bolt-ons. My goal is to increase my low end performance but also I do not want to lose any top end. Are the Thorleys gonna make me happy with all the low end they are supposed to give me. Or should I just go with the OBX set up. There are many other options out there too obviously. Any info is greatly appreciated THANKS!

azspeed-marine claims they produced 22hp and 25ft lbs on a stock 5.3. I dont really think thats possible but its right on there website. They also are almost $800 headers gaskets and bolts, no y-pipe...... any help out there?

Get you some pacesetter longtubes and a good tune for that price and you will have more power and low end.

I just can't understand why all you guys like them pacesetter headers soo much. Yes they dump the exhaust better then the factory manifolds, but there are other headers out there that are so much better in terms of quality. I dunno what to do.............

They like them because they are well priced and performance wise do well, unless you want to make the jump to the 800-1400 dollar range buy the pacesetters

Show me a better header, quality, for the same price as pacesetters.. Granted that the finish, doesn't like snow, ice. I have had mine for over 4 years, they held up well.. Fitment and quality looks damn good to me, esp for 3**ish $$. If your going to buy a stainless header, $$$$ besides obx. So take the PS'rs 3**ish then next up you have obx(stainless 500 after that dyntechs, kooks, SW, every one of them are 750+. I am looking for a new set, but don't wanna go with the OBX for reasons, don't really want to pay 850 for stainless, but I will. So you either want to spend money or settle for what you have to spend. Pacesetter are the BEST BANG for the BUCK.

Get them jet-hot coated to keep down underhood temps, makes the headers last much longer too. I'm going with pacesetters with jet hot's 1300 coating in a couple of months.

regardless what header you get, your not goin to get extreme difference in performance... paying $1,000 for headers that give you "25HP" compared to paying $400 for headers that give you "20HP" is not worth it, IMO.... pacesetters are popular for price and fitment.

if you want to keep your low end power, go with the Thorley's. sure pacesetters, or any long tube header for that matter, give you great gains in the mid-to-high rpm, but i found you do lose some power down low. i have heard nothing but good things from people that own Thorley's.
