I also have the 259 in my truck. I tow my mud truck quite a bit during the summer and snowmobile trailers in winter so i wanted a good low rpm torque cam but of course wanted a good gain across the board. I am very happy with it, my mpg went up a tinge normally, but went up considerably while towing, it has alot more torque down low where you need it pulling at hwy speeds wo downshifting. the idle is noticeable to a trained ear, but to anyone who isn't looking for it or doesn't know a big cam sound they would never know. I would not consider a handheld. get a real tune. I have had wheatley's mail order tune and he does really good work. I bought hptuners for myself to play with my own tune and be able to change things on my own. Good luck!

Hey all Im over from LS1 tech and got a cam question. I have a friend in my unit who just got an 04 silverado with 5.3L, Hes interested in my 224R that I have hanging around. How would this cam do in his truck? 224/224 .581/.581 114
Also I have some edelbrock shorty headers and random tech highflows, bought for my LS1, can he use em? I just need to get rid of this stuff!

I wouldn't put any of them into/onto a 5.3L. Much too big and not long enough (headers).

So that cam wouldnt be any good for a 5.3L? Admittedly I dont know alot about 5.3's but its an LS block right?
Im running 5.3 heads on my ls1 with a very similar cam and Im making great numbers. Someone school me as to why it wouldnt work please.

Well it starts at around 2000, would that be too high? Im running under the assumption that these 5.3's are basiclly a smaller LS1, and run pretty much the same

As far as smog goes I have no problems with smog on a slightly larger cam(in sig), so I think hell be alright.
