So because you don't and didn't have drone, it isn't caused by resonant frequency of the exhaust, mainly the section of tailpipe after the muffler? I don't follow this logic. Google exhaust drone and post up with what you find.

Not trying to be a dick, just trying to help the OP and whoever reads this fix their drone problems. It's a lot easier/cheaper to hack off 18" of tailpipe with a sawzall (like I did) than buy a whole new muffler.

I can vouch for this school of thought as well. With my old setup, when I cut about 18"-20" off, the RPM at which the exhaust droned moved from about 1800, up to around 2400 rpm.

Would rather eliminate it than move it. Cutting off my exhaust is going to leave it under the truck and I would like it to exit at the rear.

I have dual SS 3" exhaust all the way out the back. Adding two Dynomax VT's along with my Magnaflow dual in/out got rid of my drone. And how can you go wrong with a 90 day money back performance warranty along with lifetime on the mufflers themselves. Dynomax is good to work with to boot, they quickly replaced an earlier design issue set that rattled (air valves). My experience anyway, cheers.

Just got back from a 60 mile round trip on the interstate. At a constant 70mph, the truck drones. Not as bad as the lower speeds. One thing that I did notice was, at 70, if I lean forward toward the steering wheel, the sound is worse. Strange.

Just got back from the muffler shop and had a bullet style resonator installed behind the muffler. Still drones. Dang it!
