Threw away $100 today.
I had a bullet installed today in front of my Magnaflow 12909 (5x11x22) to help with the drone but it didn't help at all that I could tell. I read on here that several people used them with success. Allgonoshow stated that it probably wouldn't help, wish I would have listened to him. I have a built 6.0 with ARH 1 7/8 headers with their cats and a radix mp112. Flows through a single 3.5 exhaust. Drone is terrible. Any other suggestions? Not really wanting to go with a dual exhaust.

Drone is directly affected by the length of tailpipe behind the muffler. As I understand it, the resonance is caused by that section of pipe vibrating. So shorten it, raise the frequency and move the drone higher in the rpm band. Worked for me a decent amount.

just add another magnaflow. 18" might be extremely quiet though. i have headers, no cats and a 22" magnaflow and it was quiet for a while. i got the Y-pipe welded so it would quit leaking and it drones now

i cant agree with this. i dont know how "drone" is made but my truck has Pacesetter LT/or-y/36" magnaflow muffler (round) tailpipe all the way out to the back bumper. my truck didnt drone with the 14" magnaflow either. my truck is actually almost as quiet inside as it was stock.

Its just weird how these magnaflow differ on these trucks.... ive ran the 22"magnaflow and it was too quiet, with zero drone and zero rasp. Not just me though i have ordered plenty of these for friends and cousins and they have the same results. I just found out that they make a 22" chambered muffler, i had the 22" straight thru design, im wondering if the people getting the drone are the ones with the chambered design????
To the OP, which one do you have?

I have model #12909. It says that is a "free flowing, straight through perforated stainless steel core, stainless mesh wrap and acoustical fiber fill". Could the reason be its because I have a 3.5" exhaust? Going down the road at 60mph and running about 1500-1700 rpms it is very quiet. Its just from a normal takeoff to 40mph or so that it is very loud inside the cab. Really cant get on it yet because I still have a couple hundred miles to go before I break the motor in and can get back to the dyno for final tuning.
