Are throtle bodies worth it?

Save your money and port yours. It's worth about 4-5rwhp. Use those $300 on a UPD cai and use the rest for beer.

They are worth it for the right application, but really are not worth it until you get into bigger cubes and power adders. You could achieve better results IMO by getting yours ported.

Quite a few shops will do it for you for $150.00 I was impressed on how well it came out when getting mine done.

You really wont see much of a gain till you get up in the high HP #s.

Lightbulb porting tb

so if mine is fly by wire and i have no throttle cable can you still port the tb or not?? get the same results

What kind of high horsepower will we need to begin taking advantage of the effect of BBK or ported throttle body?

@ 400-450 rwhp you would bennifit from a bigger/ported TB. Under that and you engine really isnt flowing enuff to max the stock TB.

If you have the fly-by-wire you could very easily over port the TB and screw your idle all up. Since they dont have the idle hole in them, they use the TB motor to control idle, with that ridge in front of the blade removed, it flows too much at idle for the computer to know what to do with.
