Default Time to build an exhaust, in please.

Well I decided its time to swap out the baby exhaust I have on the truck. Its an SLP 2.5" to 3" y-pipe then single in dual out muffler for split 2.5" dual rear exit with 200-cell high-flow cats.

What Im thinking of:

true dual 3" pipes all the way. 100-cell high flow cats, 4 or 5" wide cat converter case for super high flow. x-pipe. Dual dynomax vt mufflers, and a set of bullets right before the tips which will be tucked behind the rollpan.

The difference is I currenly have a baby stockish sounding cam, and will be installing the monster cam sitting in front of me, so take that into consideration.

I dont want to debate the whole catalytic converter thing, I just hate the smell of catless exhaust, and this should help keep the sound down.

Would the new set-up sound quiter than the current one?

likely no, probably louder (less restriction). but then you are also planning to run essentially 4 muflers so it should be pretty acceptable, especially exiting at the rear of the truck.

i love the smell of catless exhaust and how it gets in your clothes but that's just me. better than cologne!

Why are you installing cats?

Dude, such a wise decision on re-doing the exhaust. You were choking that motor!

Sig material right there

Now back to the question: I would think that it'd for sure be quieter (is that a word? Lol). I had LT's into a 2.5" ory that went into 3" cat back with a si/so flowmaster 40 dumped then cut the Y off the ory and ran true dual 2.5" into (2) 3" flowmaster super 40s and it's not as loud as the first setup.

I really wanna get rid of the super 40s and go with some actual bullet mufflers

Thanks buddy, bought the truck from SLP like that

also swapping out the 87mm throttle body for a ported 90mm ls3 throttle body, didnt opt for any bigger since the TVS2300 inlet opening is a 90mm.

A friend's SS with a procharged f1a 427 putdown 1035 rwhp with a single 4" exhaust and a round borla xr-1. The car sounded like satan's death ride.

Man that single 4" exhaust doesnt sound like the best idea for a 427 and a blower. Can it be done? For sure! Thats what boost is for it will force air through all the restrictions/bottlenecks but it doesnt sound like the most efficient setup.

I could gain much more by swapping out the pulley but i decided to do the exhaust, throttle and custom cam.

After i figure out the fuel system would be when i slap on a smaller pulley and turn it up.

Got ALOT of things to work on in the meanwhile im broke lol
