Default Time to cam sonoma texas speed-228R anyone have it?

2002 sonoma ext cab step side

Texas Speed 228-R cam is what I'm thinking

6.0 stock except for a2002 LS6 cam and springs, sanderson shorties, true duals w magnaflow cats, 3:42 gears, built trans, probably going circle D route and go with modified trailblazer 3000K and stall it.

I've been looking listening to cams anyone have thoughts ideas how it will run with above cam and converter. Can I expect a nice streetable combo with a sick lope at red lights or do I need to re think cam selection. Thanks

I'd change springs to something like the PAC 1218s.

Ive gotten a best of 18 but thats filling up, getting on the HWY and setting the cruse control at 72.Dont think the cam will kill the milage to bad but the stall will kill about 1 to 2 mpg. I went with the PAC .675 springs just because I didnt want to buy them again with I go bigger with the cam.

Are you having problems with the 3200 stall and need to go larger or is it personal preference to go bigger.

How does this cam run from a stop is it flat then starts to pull up higher or is it pretty good off the line. Just curious not racing my truck but I currently have an LS6 cam and it's flat off the line which gets aggarvating when you really need the bitch to go like taking off in traffic.

its completly personal preferace it runs great just ike it is. the cam doesnt start pulling hard until 4000rpm till i shift at 6800. If i launch in 4x4 it wil stall to 3400 and leave like a animal but in 2wd it just spins. the 125 shot helps bring it out of the hole. but i do have big tires and 373 gears

^^ Agreed.

I have tuned a few f-bodys with that cam (112LSA versions) and they lope all right. Not too crazy but they sound very healthy. I also had them shifting at 6800, but they were manual transmissions. As for converter, 3200 would do all right. Maybe a little higher. 3600 would keep it moving well.

That LQ4 will swallow that cam up a good bit, combined with your light weight compared to the full size truck I think a 3000 will do fine. Of course a couple hundred more RPM would be nice but I think the 3K will run just fine for you.

I havent ordered the converter yet guy at circle D said I could go up to 3200 with the trailblazer 278 converter. I'll opt for a 3200. I've enjoyed the sleeper effect of a quiet exhaust in a 6.0 sonoma but it's time for a change it's been status quo since I finished it sometime in late 08 early 09 and has been a stone reliable daily driver as it was.

Whats the overall thoughts on the 228 based on the overall parts in the truck should it prove to be a nice all around cam. I'm after a noticeable lope, decent torque down low to get moving and fairly auto tranny friendly. As far as the LSA what will be gained lost etc going with 112 over a 114?
