Old thread I know and yea some things were fabricated years ago in the past but not all. Knock the van all you want but the big van is quick for what it is and still as cushy and roomy as driving your living room down the road. With the stiff 1-ton springs, LT tires, polyurethane bushings throughout and oversize Hellwig sway bars on both ends does not even handle all that badly. At 6,550 lbs the van has been 13.5 @ 100 on a 1.95s 60' upshifting at 5,500. I had to pull the 383 out of it this summer. The 383s torque ripped the 4 bolts out of the stupid hold down brackets that hold the bracket that holds the motor mount. The mounts were all but impossible to get to with the engine in place. I had to modify a set of the hold down brackets that snap up into the frame by grinding down GMs factory stamped opening they tapped and had about 3 threads in them. Tack welded grade 8 nuts to the brackets to hold the motor mount pads in place. Almost have it back together and running again. While the 383 was out I cleaned and painted the front frame section, ran AN lines for the power steering and hydroboost and truck bed coated the inner fenders. Also rewired my electric fans with a GMT800 harness from BP Engineering. Upgraded the a/c system with an actual a/c pressure sensor to control the fans through the LS PCM. I am waiting on a new steering gear box to get here to replace the sloppy, seeping OEM box and a couple other small things and will have it all put back together soon. Should mention a fuel pump upgrade is on the way for E85. Should be able to get some good gains in power given the conservative 26° total advance I run on 93 currently.

But he also loves to forge dyno graphs and post them as his own "builds" and he's been called out on it on several forums. You can google his user name for a good laugh. He might know a thing or 2 and I'll give him credit for that, but he has quite the reputation

Pretty sure I found that asshat posting in a Facebook group the other day.... I wish I remember the name now. It was some guy whining about LS's and going on about his engine combos in his shitty 1987 G20 van. There can only be one person on the planet that fits that description. I loved way back in the day when he finally got caught and called out by the owner of the Ram he was parading around saying was his truck hahaha.

Knock me if you want, I don't care. 383 is now up and running with a P59 Blue/Green connector PCM using a 2005 Mexican 1-ton GMT800 L31 base file. Have a few things to finish up before I get it road worthy again. Been working too many hours to even have time to mess with it much the last few months. 383 absolutely rips though. It is pulling over 420 gms/sec airflow in the 5,700 rpm range and the 48 lb/hr spider is flowing at about 62% duty cycle to hold 12.6:1 air/fuel ratio. That is over 500 hp worth of fuel and airflow. Running 28° total timing at high rpm in this clip. The torque wraps up the heavy stock 13" body 2,800 rpm stall 4L80E converter like its not even there. Van should be extremely responsive to drive with the 2,800 stall speed and 5.13 rear gear. Even with that little 218/228 cam the 383 wants to spin. Doesn't even have to try hard to hit the 6,200 rpm fuel kill.

Revving in park is way different than driving. My stock 350 revs close to that with just an RV cam and headers. That said, it does sound like a solid engine. I can’t wait to get mine installed.

I was looking more at where it draws peak airflow through the MAF. Peak power usually occurs close to where maximum airflow is reached. Peak power down at 5,700-5,800 is going to be fun. That character won't really change when I get it up and driving. I cannot wait to get mine on the road again. What excites me about the way it snaps up, the mild 350 did not have the response this one does, spinning up a lighter 9.5" converter. For it to have that kind of response snap to it, the thing is making good torque.
