<~~~ I don't like them either. There's too much slop in them and your cam timing changes too much. Also the "lash" is too hard on your valve train.

okay so whats the next best thing then i dont want to worry about this just get a very good on and be done with it, itll be going in a 370 fi

Ive put the LS2 chain in I dont know how many motors, besides the ones Ive read about on here and the vast majority have had no problems. The LQ4 Im building right now is getting a new LS2 chain, Ill sleep just fine at night knowing its in there.

The key here is having a MATCHED SET. I think it's silly to throw a new chain on used sprockets. I would just go with a new progear single chain setup and be done. They're much more accurate than stock and have adjustable keyways for advancing or retarding your camshaft timing. They'll also outlast your stocker. The stockers are intentionally built sloppy as robots need the extra tolerance to put the chain on. The progear setup is noticably tighter and looks to be a much better built unit. They run about $120 shipped through most vendors.

Stock cam and crank gears wearing out? When I did the cam swap on my old 5.3 years ago it had 180K on it and there was nothing wrong with the gears, the chain had some slack in it but nothing bad. AP2002s truck had 80K on it when I did the swap on it and reused the stock tchain he continued to beat on it for quite a while longer then sold the motor to someone else and I believe its still running strong. I have nothing to go by but what Ive personally experienced and IMO the stock gears are fine forever and an LS2 chain will get the job done just fine. This of course is for a normal street build, now if you're running a cam with aggressive lobes, stout springs and high rpms Id go double roller.

Gears might last forever, but I'd still never replace a worn chain with just another chain. if the sprockets have even the slightest bit of wear, the chain will be just as junk as the one it replaced in a matter of hours.. I still say ls2 chain for any cam mild and under 6500 rpm...
