tips and tricks
lets start a tips and tricks sticky
for those of you that do not have an air compressor and wish to change out your springs to handle a higher lift cam.
go to Walmart, home depot, or where ever and get some 5/16 rope.
with the piston all the way down in the cylinder feed in about 6 to 8 feet of rope through the spark plug hole.
turn the crank until the piston will not go up any more.
now with the rope filling the combustion chamber your valves have no where to go.
change out the springs on that cylinder, when you are finished just pull out the rope and move on to the next one.

As i have just learned the hard way; When pulling your crank pulley, it is easier to pull it from the inside tabs using a Chrysler Style puller rented from an autoparts store. To reinstall spread grease on the inside of the pulley and heat with a torch. You will know when it is ready when the grease starts to bubble. To make this even easier freeze the crank snout with some sort of liquid gas ( I used a laptop cleaner which is compressed CO2 in a can. Simply turn it upside down and boom, you got liquid)
