Default The Tire Poll: What do you run?

Ok boys and girls, let's talk about your rubbers. What do you run on your truck and why?

I personally need a good all around tire that I can still use to tow, but get decent traction for the occasional street/strip race. Let's try to put answers in the following format to keep it easy to read and search:

Tire name and type
Tire Size
Rim Size
How many miles you've put on them?
What all do you use them for? (Towing, street, strip, economy, mud, etc.)
Approximate price
Your thoughts on their performance. (What do you like? Not like? Would you recommend them? Etc.)

I'll start it off with my factory POS's.

Factory Goodyear Wrangler ST's
235x75 R16
Factory Chrome Steel (16x6.5?)
40K
Towing, Street, Strip
Free (came with truck)

They are way too skinny. Traction is non-existance, and they tend to bag too easily under a load. Wet traction is horrible, and is borderline dangerous. Also one 2 tires are wearing irregularly, which I originally thought was a toe out condition in the front end. However, once I rotated them to the rear they still got progressively worse, and the rotated front tires show no signs of toe out even after several thousand miles.

Otherwise they have good treadlife, and highway fuel economy is excellent when they are pumped up to around 38 psi.

Goodyear GTII
285x60x16
Factory Silverado 5 star wheels(16x8 i think)
3rd set about 4,000 miles
street/strip
$143/tire
i usually dont buy a complete set just one at a time
at first they have realitvely good traction. except when its wet. but after awhile they get hard and slick. but still dont spin really bad. depends on the road surface.mine are about 13 inches across the tread so thats kinda keeps the traction for me, ill have to agree about the stock tires they suck, i could smoke them things down through second gear, cant do it anymore.

I run the factory Generals
255/70-16
On Ultra 16x8 wheels
30K on 2 sets
Used for towing, street and strip
I pay $62 each for them and I am about to buy another set
They are ugly and too skinny for looks but they hook like they are made out of glue and they last decent.
Just don't get in the mud or you are stuck instantly!
Excellent on wet pavement.

My choice of tire if money were no concern would be the 295/45-18 Goodyear F1 like the Lightnings come with. Someday I will break down and buy a set and some rims to put 'em on

Bridgstone duelers AT. 265/75/16. Good traction on dry/wet roads. Works good on ice/snow. Used them going skiing in the mountains. No trouble driving around icey parking lots with auto 4wd and no chains on. Haven't used them in the mud. They are quite on the highway. Have about 35k on them. Wear is good and even. I rotate them about every 5-10 k and run about 38psi. Probably another 5-7k left on them. I would get them again, but next time a want to get something with a little more agressive "mudder type" tread mainly for looks. Check them out at tire rack. Nothing but good reviews their.

Goodyear GT II
285/60/18
18x9
About 10,000 miles so far
Everyday driving, occasinal drag strip visits
About $130 i think
So far they have been great tires, now i only have my stock tires to compare agaisnt but it was the difference between night and day between these and the stock tires as far as traction. For my next set of tires i might look for somthing a bit more racier but i definitly have no complaint about these

The stock tires : P275/55R-20 Goodyear Eagle radials. So far they seem to be good tires. Could be a bit stickier for cornering.

BFG Comp T/A HR4 - 275/60/17 - Street use

good traction, bites the road pretty good..

corners decent, wet traction is pretty good, as long as you dont launch hard from the get go. when it rains, and i brake hard, still bites..

good all-around touring tire.

Goodyear GT II
275/45/20
Boss 301 wheels (20x10? don't remember)
$150/tire
~3,000 so far
Use them for street and occasional strip
They hook up fairly well on the street, they slip from a complete stop just a bit, but I can take Mustang GTs off the line great.
They are fine for me. I mean, I haven't tried anything better than this so I'm content for now.

Kumho Ecsta STX 285/60-17....$104 each
Hummer H2 17x8 alloy....$249/set
less than 10 miles on them....I JUST intalled them this morning
thses things are STICKY.....at least compared to the Big O AT's I had on the stock HD rims, I can still break 'em loose easy enough from a dead stop but during spirited driving they stick like glue to the road
