Default Torque converter bolts??

I just ordered my new 4l80e trans and conversion kit. I also ordered all the needed hardware for the conversion. I will be running a 4l60e torque converter. (with the three bolts). Is the three bolts going to be strong enough??

I certainly wouldn't.......that's the only connection between the engine and transmission and I'm pretty certain that three 7/16" bolts aren't going to hold the power of a boosted motor very long

Yup they will if Allen's tranny bolts are holding up to the horsepower he is making then it will work just fine for you.

....I'd still be scared....but if Allen can do it maybe I'll look into a 4L60e converter (they're ALOT cheaper than a 4L80e converter)

I still have time to change my order, But I was told by sells at Speed Engineering, that three bolt would be fine. (they have a 800+hp car with 60e converter) I just wanted to hear some other thoughts on it.

Hell...I've been wrong before, go for it and let me know how it works out.....if it works well I'll probably go for a 60e converter instead

1-7/16 grade 8 bolt has a shear strenth of 10680 lbf at the threads (http://www.hobson.com.au/class_8.htm), so I would think that the bolts would not be the issue. Most likely the flex plate would brake before the bolts, but I think with you power level, you would be fine with 3 bolts.
