I found that info on his website on the order form but I don't remember if it is 60 or 80%.

Normally Allen will remove 40-50% if you do not specify. there is an option for 80% removal and 100% removal.

I went with the 100% removal, have no trans problems and love it.

What trans do you have?

4L60E.

I don't know why everyone thinks these transmissions are so weak. It is the same trans I had in my 94' LT1 Vette that went over 100K with no mods to the trans and I beat the crap out of it.

I guess if you are going over 500 lb-ft of tq, it might give up.

Anyway, I see you have the 4L65E. This is the upgraded version of the 4L60E.
People upgrade the 4L60E to get what you already have.

You will be fine with 100% TM removal. And you do not need a shift kit. The only thing you might want to do is billet servos (1-2, 3-4).

Thanks Dave. I do plan on getting the servos in the near future.

From what I am told, the vette weighs 3300 lbs and the truck weighs 5500 lbs and the additional strain of that weight on the motor is why the trucks have so much TM.

The weight of a truck is a great deal more than a vette or f-body. This has a lot to do with transmission going south.

According to GM, a 2004 Corvette coupe weighs 3214. The curb weight on my Sportside is listed as 4142. It came with a factory bedliner and rail caps and I added bed rails, so round up to 4200. There are no other weight additions, other than fuel of course. So it weighs roughly 1,000 more than a Vette, according to GM specs.

I just ordered a tune and based on all the things I've read about the effects of TM on performance and transmission reliability, I asked for 100% TM removal (engine and tranny). Seems like an acceptable risk, considering my driving habits.

Yeah, I understand the weight thing, but I can't drive the truck the way I can (did) drive the vette.

Something I forgot.

I also run sythetic oil in my trans. I bought 5 gal sythetic, changed it once a week for 4 weeks through the oil plug. The 5th week I dropped the pan changed the filter and refilled. I think I am around 80-90% synthetic.
