Tow Haul Mode....??
I've driving my 5.3 Tahoe with Magnaflows, HPP3, and K&N Intake Tube pretty hard lately..... 4.10's in the axles.... Question is this... It's seems to run faster and is more responsive in the tow/haul mode.... Anyone else doing this and you think there might be any long term effects on the Tahoe...??
Also, When reprogamming the computer's shift points and such... Does it bleed over into the tow/haul mode... ?
Thanks,

Thanks Greg,
Rev limit up to 6000rpm, Power Tuning, +3 +4 +5 on the shift points with the shifts on the firm setting.... Mind you I also have 33's for tires.... would that change anything....?? I did set the tire size to 32 1/2" in the HPP3 but I'm assuming that is only for the speedo....

That's because in Tow/Haul mode it ups the pressure on the transmission wich means firmer shifts, just like a shift kit. When you are pulling a heavy load you don't need your tranny slipping inbetween gear changes so the tow/haul mode firms up the shifts, therefore equaling better timeslips.

Thanks for the info guys...
So, what about damage to the tranny...?? With the HPP3 set to firmer shifts and the tow haul mode engaged, will the tranny be able to handle it ??

Yes it will be ok. I have ran the hpp3 on my 99 for a little over 4 years now. It has been beat on and still has stock trans in it untill i went all out. The trans was still good when i pulled it out so you will be ok with it. I had no shift kit in it or anything.

But the T/H button OVERRIDES the HPPIII programming. It also brings the shifts down even lower than the stock settings, so how could the truck run faster?
I've tried running in T/H mode, and my truck was consistently SLOWER. And this was in mostly stock trim, before the cam in went in the LR4.
On a side note...someone mentioned that you could tune the T/H mode in EDIT. Is that the case?
