Towing Questions
I have a 2002 ECSB Silverado. It has the 5.3, 2wd, HD suspension, and the Towing package. When I tow my friend's SSC Neon (go ahead and laugh, it'll outrun my truck anyday), it's fine. But when I towed my '97 Sonoma, it felt like it was going to die.
Would <2000 lbs more effect it that much?
The trailer weighs 1600 lbs. The Neon @2400 lbs. The truck is anyone's guess.
Thanks,
Roger

Re: Towing Questions
So your saying Sonoma (~3500#) and trailer comes to 5100#? Yes that would make a differance. But you should still be fine. What kind of hitch weight are you looking at? With a truck on a trailer vs a car, the center of gravity will be shifted forward toward the hitch, that with the weight differace you will notice. Hell I tow 6200# with my 4.8 pretty good.

Re: Towing Questions
Sure it can.
Most S-10's (particulary 4x4's) weigh in the 4,000 - 4,300lb range...at least all mine have.
So with a 1,600lb trailer, then another 4,000 on it, you're now at 5,600lbs.
Compared to pulling the Neon at 4,000lbs total, the difference is the equivalent of pulling another trailer between the two.
