4.10s aren't too bad for a DD. Of course, when I was driving my '86, I was driving on a ticking 4L60E. It got 19mpg with a screwy TC that wouldn't lock up. How about that for a non-pro tuned 216/220 cam'd 5.3L. My DD distance (one way) to work is 50 miles.

Hopefully, my trans parts will be delivered by Saturday, and I'll be able to get back in the truck and DRIVE. Hope to update soon. BTW... go for a TR220. I've seen a nicely tuned 4.8L run with that. If not mistaken, someone I know used to own a white RCSB w/ a TR220 cam'd 4.8L.

i bought a tr 224 on a 112 lsa when they went on sale (kinda impulse knowing i still need so much more)
after hearing it on a 114 in a friends TA m6, i didnt think it was too choppy so i bought it, on stock tune in that thing he throws random misfire codes sometimes but erases them as soon as they pop up

that 224 in his car didnt hardly change drivability at all in my opinion i drive his car from time to time, and on stock tune, it just seems faster, and has more exhaust tone, other then that driving it feel the same, just pulls harder!

try to drive someone's to compare, will make it easier decision

second the 220.. I have the 220 in my 5.3 ECSB 4x4 and its all I want for daily driving. Of ocarse I want more lope, but for a DD you cant go to much bigger. Espically in a 4.8 the 220 is about the biggest you want. Maybe even a 218/218 would be perfect for you.
I didnt notice a huge drop in mpg either, just get it tuned and all should be fine. The biggest drop in mpg is your foot getting use to the power range of the cam

I was gonna run a 224 in my 4.8l but.. then again I have another dd.. So 220 would probably be best.
