correct... 220/220 .553/.553 114... and I already have it cuddled up in the garage waiting for him
If it would be more beneficial I can get him the LS6 cam for dirt cheap, but I figured use this one since its here... it put my buddys T/A in the 10s so cant be too bad!

Gustin's truck is also on 33's and is lifted and what-not right?

I think that would make a lack of lowend a lot more pronounced.

Can anyone answer just how much extreme lowend would be lost with a 112 over a 114?

As of right now, I think I'd rather have that extra surge in the midrange and a nice lopey idle, over a cleaner pull from the bowels of the powerband.

The lower LSA is gonna shift the powerband down not up. I am thinking around a few hundred RPMs worth.

If i were not going to use a stall and wanted a nice lopey idle with good low end then I would go at a min 112LSA or even a 110 if you didn't care about smog. The cams are so easy to swap in our trucks once you have electric fans that I would pick the best cam for power and drivabilty over smogability.

The higher the LSA the less lope you are gonna get also.

To give you an idea. My stock dyno (hypertech and K&N) vs my 226cam'd dyno I made:

15HP more at 4400rpm

40HP more at 5300rpm

101HP more at 5900rpm

This was before tuning so #s have changed but I am not wasting money to dyno it again til the turbo is on. Point is it shows how much I shifted my powerband. ICL makes a huge difference also though.

You got 101 more hp at 5900 rpm's from just a cam? Wow!!!

No, not just the cam sorry. I meant from almost stock, to the mods I have now. Most of it was the cam though I'm sure because before the cam I was only trapping 89-90mph and now I am almost at 97mph. With teh Z06 cam I trapped 92.9mph. The Fans didn't really seem to do anything since in the 1/4mile your truck is usually not hot enough for it to be engaged. At least i couldn't tell a diff. So really my main mods are the header, intake (which didn't do anything since I had a homemade setup on my first dyno), cam and tuning.

Sorry for the confusion.

so what did you see at around 2000-3000rpm. My truck falls on its face when it shifts gears. I think tuning and removing torque management may help. Will that cam pass smog in ca.? how much did it cost or retail for? Want something to help with torque at lower rpms and carry up through the rpm range.

I'm not sure mate. I have a 3k stall in this truck so I didnt care about anything below 3k. This thing would be horrible for a truck without a stall though

If you are looking for a good cam cheap talk to Rick at Synergy and he can custom grind you one. That's where I get mine. Something similar to the 212/218 that everyone seems to like on here might be good but with your blower in consideration.

F8L, Thanks...

I understand the part about the actual meat of the powerband... but I'm thinking of RPM's of like 1,100 - 1,400 when you're locked up at cruise. How do you get around those rpm's with your sized cam?

I thought a 112 will be real choppy down low at idle speeds, and be quite soft until the cam starts to wake up.

I thought the 114's will take out some of the 'hit' of the cam, and make it more liveable way down low.

I'm currently looking at very small duration cams. I want a torque monster. I'm not really after peak HP or 6,500+ rpm's.
