Default TR220 Cam low end torque?

I am looking for a new cam for my 04 5.3L Avalanche and like the look of the TR220. On Thunder Racings website they show a dyno graph in a 5.3L truck that shows this cam making close to 375 ft lbs of torque at 3800 rpm. Is that an accurate graph. That is a huge jump in power over stock for just a cam. I have seen that a few of you have this cam,so is this a good graph?

you gotta have a stall for that cam , a friend of mine got that cam in his crewcab 5.3 hes got 3.73 gears on a stock stall and my truck when i had 3.42s beet him off the line, but once he gotta rollin he was gone... at that point i just had cai tune exhaust and few other little things..

Yeah, a stall will definitely bring out the bet in that cam else it will move the increases higher in the rev range.
BTW have you looked into the AV specific site? Definitely not trying to push you away from here but it was a wealth of knowledge for my my buddy and his 8.1L Av. http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/index.html

like the other said, you would need a stall in that heavy of a truck.. atleast a 2800.. a 3000 stall with that cam should rock

I have a 220/220 waiting to go in my z71 also have a yank3000 stall sitting on the bench waiting also

you'll be OKAY with a tb stall.. but like 98t said.. a 2800 or more would be awesome. I'm waiting for funds to build up to get my 3500 stall.. i need it badly.

I do belong to the Avalanche forum and that is how I found this site. I have searched over there and not many are swapping cams, most are going the super charger route. So the 375 ft pounds that they have on their dyno graph would be more liek 340? How did they get such a great result then form theres? Could more mods with that cam make that power output from a 5.3L without using a blower?

at 375 ft/lbs it might be dyno tuned... no mail order or hpt or efi live or any of that. But even with a dyno tune, it shouldnt pull THAT high of a tq number. I'm thinking there were other mods... what year truck is that graph on?

It was in an 2002 GMC 5.3L truck with TR 220/220 .551/.551 112 camshaft, ASP pulley, Yank 3000 converter, Thunder Racing custom tuning.

well how did it feel?

i would ask to drive it, that way you can get the whole feel of how much gas you need to give it to get it to move and how it reacts to pedel pressure
