Default tr224...epic cam or greatly overrated?

hey guys, ive been looking for a cam for awhile and i think i have found the perfect one. 03 denali 6.0. Looking for a cam without to much ridiculous lift, something easy on the valve train and that i can use z06 springs with. I do want some lope and i want it to be streetable. I want my stock stall to be sufficient for now, and i will add another tc later. Is the tr224 right for me? too big? Thanks ahead of time, Owen.

The 224 is a nice cam.
I would run at least a 3K converter though.. 3200-3400 would be perfect.

I ran 12.30's on my cam only LQ4.. My truck weighed 4500lbs

It is one of the most used cams out there...And is proven for sure. Alot of guys have them cams in there trucks, deep into the 12's and 11's

With a stall of 3k you will loose a lil in gas mileage, I am getting about 14-15 with my set up, running a 3200 . Just to give you a idear

no worries at all about intown mileage and i know a locking tc wont effect highway mileage, but will the shift in the power band caused by the cam, effect my highway mileage?

I thought the TR224 needed a stronger spring. Not to thread steal. But what "bigger" cams can be used with ZO6 springs?

the 224 cam will need bigger springs..then the z06 springs.

I have one and love it, mine is cut on a 110LSA+4. I get 16 on the highway w/4.10s, but about 12 around town both w/ a 3200 stall.
