Default first Track Day tomorrow...........4l80e shift kit is in!

Well, it's finally here......I'm going to the track tomorrow
private rental of California Speedway

Only mods are Radix and CatBack exhaust.

The 4L80e TransGo HD-2 Shift Kit is in! I actually just got back from the test drive.
No leaks, clanks, hisses, or explosions

that was my first shift kit ever and it was slow going for sure, but it looks like everything is better than stock and buttoned up tight. I thought the drilling would be the tough part, not so, there are plenty of odd little modifications required that make the kit much more interesting. The only HD-2 mods I didn't do was the "Shift Command" mod, which apparently is a "race only" type affair, and the "internal" mods, which I can do at a later date if I ever drop the tranny. Every other little mod that came in the kit was performed in addition to the TransGo "hardened seperator plate" and a Hughes Deep Sump Pan, which gives me an extra 4 quarts of tranny fluid, and looks Damn Cool ta'boot!

simply beautiful! I selected the firm setting, (i.e. .096 holes) and returned my line pressure back to stock values via HPTuners. The shift is slightly firmer than the stock radix tune shift parameters(i.e. the increased line pressure) and it is definetly a quicker shift. Part throttle shifting is very streetable, which is a relief

I have not removed any more TQ management than comes with a stock Radix tune, however, I may still do that tonight OR at the track tomorrow to see what difference that might make.

Any advice for tomorrow? what do you guys usually bring with you?

Unfortunelty, I won't be able to get my Caltracs on before tomorrows event so I expect my 1/4 mile time to suffer, however, this will give me a good starting point.

Last but not least, I have to send a big thanks out to James B, he helped me out with advice and answers to questions throughout the entire evolution this dude certainly knows his stuff.
Glen at TransGo Tech was also a big help. Thanks guys!

ok, thats the sum of it, tomorrow will tell the tale

peace out

sweet! definately kill all tq management. when you race log your tps and timing and make sure they dont close/dip at the shift. with an 80 in there you dont need any tm.

dude, nothing in the kit was exactly hard, you just really had to pay attention to details.

it allows you to manually downshift to low from any gear.
