Traction issues
Sup guys, I went with Allen and the crew to SAR, and my best time was 15.42 @ 91.20 MPH and a 2.39 60 foot, 6.61 330ft.
My worst time was when my tires broke loose midrange 1st gear. I ran a 18.99 at 87.04mph and a 3.13 60 foot, 9.17 330 ft.
I was wondering why my MPH on my worst run was only a few lower than the best run. I was running down the track with the 3.42 open differential and the one tire broke loose (on the worst run) then let off the gas, then flooring it again and it downshifted and then eventually crossed the finished.
The question is, is my traction sucking on the best run too? I didnt feel/hear any spinning, and the MPH on the best run is nearly the same as the 18.9 sec run. WTF?
thanks.

Mph is a far better indication of how much horsepower a vehicle has. With roughly the same mph, your et can change drastically because of the launch.
On the fastest truck list, Parish's truck pulled like a mid 13 at 96mph (4wd) A 2wd with a 96mph trap speed is in the low 14's with a crappier launch.
You get alot of a good et in the first 330 ft of track, but alot of mph on the rest of the track.

If you're planning a stall, either keep your 3.42s or get 3.73s depending on what stall you get.
I'm seriously thinking of goin with 3.42s with this 3200 stall I got...

ET is affected FAR more by crappy traction than MPH. Think about if you spin for 2 seconds coming outta the hole. Your et will be bad because of the lack of traction but, since you weren't covering much distance for that time you still have all that track length to pull a good MPH.
What height tires are you running Deckhand?

MPH usually goes up when you loose traction. In my race/stree car, if I go 11.60's its usually around 118mph. But if it gets loose, it will run 120's and has gone as fast as 123 yet still ran an 11.61.

Yeah, with 30" tires go for the 4.10's. That gearing is still better than what a stock Fbody runs as far as cruising rpms. I think a 3800-4000 stall with 4.10's would be a killer setup for impromptu roll races. The midrange-top end pull would be KILLER.
