Sorry to bring this back from the dead but I've been unable to get all the info I need. I have a '03 ECSB 4wd 5.3 and am wondering if the TB stall is the way to go. i get employee pricing and could get the TB converter cheap. So do I order the 4wd trailblazer converter? Is there a difference between that and the 2WD.

I think that both of those converters are about the same so you could go either way. I bought one to go on my SS because it is a genuine GM part so you know the quality is good, not to mention it was freaking cheap. I got mine for $200(thanks VicRed) and I think that it will definately be worth the $$. I also wasn't about to buy a yank because I had heard lots of bad about them although they now seem to be doing much better.
If you want a mild stall that will still net decent gains and don't want to spend too much $$ on it then the TB converter is the way to go. If you want to go nuts with your truck then i would suggest getting a bigger yank, or PI stall.

all i know is there is no way i would pay that much for that stall you could almost buy a yank that would stall to that for that much money and i believe someone was selling a yank 3k for like 500 in the classifieds i would jump on that like a monk on a hooker

the stall is higher. what do you think would make them better? come on guys, no need to re-invent the torque converter here. it's simple, the torque converter from a trailblazer with a 4.2 has a higher stall than what comes behind the V8 full size trucks and will bolt to a gen III small block. stall will very depending on the vehicle and drivetrain.

reman. the dealer cost is 178.50, but in order to get it at that cost you have to be pretty special. even from gmpartsdirect.com you'll be much higher than that after shippping. figure a good deal to be around 230+core.

there was at one time, but i don't believe there is any more. i'd have to actually look that one up since the part number changes happen quite often.
