Default Tranny dead, should I replace or rebuild?

So my truck for the last little while was grinding a bit, could never tell if it was the tranny, transfer case, or differential. Well last night i got my answer when I felt a large snap and the truck stopped responding to the forward gears and would only go in reverse. I reversed back home for about 1km, luckily I was on a near-deserted campus road). So at this point, no forward going, but reverse working...99% sure must be the tranny. Find this strange as I regularly changed the fluids and the truck only has 210 000km (125 000miles.)

The real problem is that I live in a crowded area, truck is too long for the garage, outside is packed with snow, so chances of me replacing this myself is near zero. So, I've never had a tranny rebuilt before...according to your experiences would rebuilding tend to be a better idea than getting another that's used or is the rebuild cost not worth it? Thanks peeps.

IMO with limited availability to DIY, save yourself the time, money, and frustration and get a built from a tranny sponsor herein and be done with it for a while.

Thanks for the reply guys, I had that idea on my mind. So, can anyone recommend who rebuilds good 4L60E transmissions? There's quite few to select from. I wouldn't mind going with a more reliable transmission that shifts quicker and can handle a bit more power and load. Smooth shifting is not so important to me.

Other option I have, if I can find this... would be upgrading to a 6.0L engine with a 4l80E transmission.

Any suggestions on either idea would be great, thanks!
