Default tranny shifting rough..

01 silverado 4x4 ecsb 5.3 4l60e with 54k.I have been noticing in the past few weeks that my tranny is not shifting properly in 1-2 shift. It has a slight hesitation then it slams into 2nd gear.3-4 are smooth as glass.this occurs at operating temp and seems to be getting worse.I changed the trans fluid and filter about 2 k ago and also changed the t-case fluid to blue autotrac.I have heard of a tranny update but I do not want to bring it in to the dealer (due to bad past experiences with them) How would I find out if my truck has had the trans update and how could I get it programmed in. Thanks

It's great you have concern for his possession of the vehicle but that's not really why I brought it back up. I'm having this problem as well.

my tranny started doing this as well after i raced it friday night, but then again i have 173,xxxmiles on the tranny, so i guess it was bound to happen sometime since i drive my vehicles really hard, but yeah when i get on it in first gear a little, first just kinda stalls out at 4300rpm then a second or two later it just shoves second gear in and damn near throw me in the back of my seat because i never know when its actually shifting...

any incite on the problem would be great,

Dave

Try checking the MAF. If its not pluged in correctly, the transmission shifts really hard. The check engine light also comes on.
