Damn, guys. You gotta quit talking about trannies going out. I just hit 105,000 on my truck with my stock tranny. I have a 3000 stall, shift kit, and luckily a tranny cooler heading my way as I type. Scares the crap out of me knowing it could just go out at any time, and hearing that some of you have been through "several" trannies really scares the crap outta me.

Default Don't know what's up

Ok guys. I let the truck sit all last night and all today, and then decided to see if it's acting the same way.
Surprisingly, it's acting like nothing happened
What I described in the original post had happened once before, but I didn't really think anything of it since it went away...just like now.
What I can say is that this **** happened AFTER I had driven around alot (more than an hour) and "abused" it...e.g. I did donuts, burnouts, etc.
So I don't know, is that happening because the trans is too hot? I have a B&M cooler on it..wtf?
The only thing I am sure of is that it's on its last leg....I am researching parts and places for a complete rebuild. I figure if I'm gonna have to have it taken apart, I will just replace everything so I don't have to keep paying labor over and over...because I know it will again...

Yeah, to whoever typed that info up! Thats some more good info.

Remember if you use that really wide 2-4 band, you will need the wider drum for it other wise you will burn the sides of the band.

Chingon,

OK, I have had a very similar problem.

It seems to happen at slow speeds. When taking off from a light, it seems like a huge stall, takes over 3k rpm to start moving the truck. Droping the lever down to 1st or 2nd, it will seem to be fine.

Sometimes I get an SES light. The error is P0757, Shift Selenoid B. What happens with my truck, is when it occurs, you notice how bad it takes off from a stop instantly. Pulling the gear lever down to 1st, will drop the tranny only into 2nd. Still not first. Restarting the vehicle helps, sometimes. But if allowed to set, it will work next time out. Also, if it happens, and you can't clear it by restarting it, clear the PCM code. As soon as I clear the code w/ EFI Live, it will drop back into 1st and operate normally. I think the reason it seems like a 5k stall, is because your staring out in 3rd gear.

Did you get any codes? SES light?

Someone mentioned something like this happening with bigger stalls. I think it was determined that 3k was about the most you could go without getting that problem.

You know Chingy came over to use my laptop with his Atap and he did get that code. It was for the shift seleniod B. Im pretty sure that code has been goin off since he got the shift kit and convertor.

What exactly is the shift selenoid b?

Try a search to be sure .. but I think it was that the converter made the PCM think it was outside of the allowed slippage and then it throws that code and won't let it do some of the other things.

Yeah, thats normal with a 3000+stall. It keeps the tranny in 2nd and 3rd gear only.

Just turn the code off with edit.
