Truck acting funny
I have a buddy with a 2003 RCSB 5.3 2wd. He is running the GM Hot cam with a FLT lvl 5 and a 3400 converter. He's having a problem where he drives down the road and lets off the pedal and it holds rpm and speed like as if he had cruise control on. It stays right at about 1500 RPM and which is somewhere around 30 MPH. Then as he slows down, it still sounds like he is two-footing it and it revs around 1000 RPM. However then when he comes to a complete stop and hits the brake hard enough the RPMs jump up to like 1500 and then it idles normal. What could this be? Throttle body? vaccumm? Electronics? Please help.

As long as you have a good tuning guy or get the truck dyno tuned, I think you would love the cam. He did have some tuning issues with the truck idling. He used to have to two-foot it everywhere. But as for power the truck rocks. Your set-up seems to be a solid setup, however, I would probably do a higher stalled converter to feel the complete capability of the cam. Also, maybe some more tranny work unless your not too worried about your tranny. Is this truck a daily driver? Are you worried about smoking your tranny?

Well as long as your ready to built yourself a nice reliable tranny I would say go for it. I know a lot of people on this site dislike that cam, but I personally think the power it makes is crazy. Build a good tranny and get a good tune and your truck will scoot pretty good.
