Default Truck EGR History

Does anyone know the history of EGR in 99+ V8 trucks. What engines, models, and years have EGR? Which ones don't?

I know that 99 had EGR and 2003 does not have EGR. What happened in the middle and when? Does anybody know if anything internal in the motor changed to help eliminate EGR or did GM spend a little more money on catalyst to help clean it up?

Any help or information would be appreciated. I haven't been able to find any information on this subject.

Thanks

took it off of my 01. all you need is a plug for the intake that you can get from the factory. then you need a blockoff plate for your exhaust. its not too hard to make the exhaust blockoff if you got the right tools.
