Truck members using E-Fans?
I am looking at trying to obtain a set of Electric fans for my 2004 GMC Sierra. I havew been to ebay and there are some LS1 units from 98-2002 F-bodys. Is this the best way to go or should I lean more toward the Flex-A-Lites? I have heard lots of complaints with the Flex's lately. Will the ls1 e-fans bolt right up to the truck or will it require custom mounting brackets? I know I can get the relay for the fans from Nelson Performance, just wanting to see which is the better way to go as far as the fans are concerned and what all I need to mount and install the fans. TIA for you help.

The complaints that you have been hearing are not for the flex-a-lite fans themselves but the VSC controler from flex-a-lite. If you use ls1 fans or the flex-a-lite fans you are going to need the VSC or a controler like it. Also you can run your fans off the PCM if you have the PCM tuned for that.
I have ls1 fans, my buddy has flex-a-lite fans, they both move alot of air but the flex-a-lite setup is definitly a little nicer. Do you need it? I dunno thats up to you. Many people do just fine with ls1 fans

If you have the extra money get the Flex-a-lite's. It has more of a factory look to it and they move some serious air. Does anyone know the cfm ratings of the LS1 and Flex fans?
The VSC fuse holder has been upgraded by Flex and they're "recalling" the old ones because they kept melting, but mine never melted. What did melt was the prongs that you plug the connector to. The reason mine melted was not because of a bad ground like some people think or is it because the wire is too small. The connectors come loose when you drive around causing it to get hot and melt.
There are other options for controllers like DCC and Farmtruc on here sells them too.

I like my Flex-a-Lite fans, but I would not deal with the controller that comes with them. I would find an alternative to that. It's cheap, no way around it, wonderful idea, but cheaply made and produced.
I think the problem with the Flex-A-Lite controller is that it runs both fans off the same wire. That is some serious power coming into those fans and if there isn't a good solid connection, like there isn't in the controller, than things will get hot and start to melt.

im running flex fans and the dc controller. it is working out great. i think one of the reason's it is working so good is that my fans hardly ever get over 50% speed. i have the 60 amp version but the 35 amp version will work fine.

My Flex-a-Lites & 2nd VSC are working fine.
My Flex-a-Lites & 2nd VSC are working fine. The first fuse holder melted. They sent me the newer VSC and a new fuse & holder. All is well after some seriouse running time in the Georgia heat.
