Truck is telling me to change oil-wtf
I just changed it 400 miles ago. Its at 6400 now.
Is it telling me to change because I've never reset the oil change, eh device? Its got Mobil 1 syn. with Mobil 1 filter.
Anyone know how to reset it on a 2003, base model The manual is poorly written and I can't figure out what to do.
Or is there something that the computer knows that I don't? The oil looked ok, is at the right level, and smells fine.

Turn the ignition on but do not start......
Step on gas pedal 5 times..to the floor.....
This is what I do to clear the oil change monitor.
The computer take a reading of how long the oil has been in since the reset and compairs it to driving conditions and makes a calculation as to when the oil should be changed.
At least this is what I was told by the stealer.

You have to manually reset the Oil monitor. I am not 100% sure (mine doesn't come on before I change it at 3,000 miles) but you have to turn the key to the Run position and hit the gas peddle all the way down three times (i think 3) within 5 seconds. I think the Oil monitor will blink then - letting you know it has been reset. Turn on the engine, and it should be cleared if I told you the right steps.
P.S. I don't know what it is, but I remember twice my Oil life monitor coming on around 300-400 miles after just changing it also. It was with Mobil1 syn. and a Mobile1 oil filter. The computer just brain farts or something when that happens I just reset the Oil life monitor and kept driving it until I got to the next 3,000 miles when I know I need to change my oil.

5 pushes of the pedal, mine just blinks about 3 times then turns off.
That's it.
That's it.
