That pricing is a bit much for a non intercooled setup also. I could piece together a home-brew kit for way less. What do you need for a single setup:

Shorty headers
Medium-large turbo
Lots of mandrel bends
Silicone couplings
Turbo diesel intercooler
Braided oil lines
And general know-how of turbos

I'd say for about $1500 or so you could build yourself a kit.

Hell has it crossed anyone's mind to attach a pair of medium sized turbos to a set of shorty headers and work from there...like how a 300ZX TwinTurbo is setup? You'd be able to use intercoolers from something like a TT Supra. Run a big K&N cone to each turbo via some piping. Have the discharge back to the intercoolers. Then have the IC outlets "Y" into the MAF then into the TB...

Thats exactly how i was gonna setup my turbos when i was gonna do it for my 2000. I had the turbos and everything. But i ended up selling it all and i bought my blazer instead. It definately would work that way. A company had a twin turbo kit designed for our trucks that worked exactly like that, but they never produced it.

Yeah, the aerocharger kit. Those little "turbos" were not big enough to really support a V8 but, evidently aerocharger is making some bigger units now. They still are not producing that kit though.

There is a BIG post in the Forced Induction section about the STS kit for Fbodys. They say that the long run of pipe back up to the engine acts like an intercooler. How well I don't know but, it might work.

with the turbo that far back, there HAS to be serious lag? I have seen this kit in person and it is nice, just not perfected IMO.

Would a modified Duramax Turbo system work on the LS-1? It would probably be cheaper. and possibly work better.

first FAQ on their site :
"With the turbo so far back, don't you get a lot of turbo lag?
No, our turbochargers are sized to operate at this remote location. Just like any turbocharger, once the turbo is up to temperature and in the rpm range for which it was designed to operate. The boost comes on hard and fast. All of our systems will produce full boost below 3000 rpm. If you were to take a conventional turbo and place it at the rear, you would have lots of lag and consequently, our turbo wouldn't work properly if mounted up front."

that's bull.....seems like if their turbo is "OVERSIZED" to work better that far back, then if you took the same turbo and moved it up front into a ypipe immedietly behind the motor, or even had 2 of their turbos 1 on each longtube header that it would be more efficient, make more boost, and HAVE NO LAG if theirs makes power before 3k rpm. just my thoughts though
