Default truck turbo kit info

i replied in a post that i would love to have a turbo set up for my truck and someone sent me this email, what do you guys think? anyone know anything about this company?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I saw your post on LS1TECH, and figured i would let you know that there is a
turbo kit in the works for your truck, and we are actually making one off of
a 2003 4x4 6.0liter, so it will fit yours perfect, it should be ready this
spring, the name of the shop making it, is Mach Performance, in Sterling
Heights, MI. He was mentioned in the new GMHTP as being well versed and
experienced in the truck crowd, he is on page 9 i think, in the reader write
in area. But if you have any questions, or wanted to be put on the list to
be kept informed on progress, just call, and tell Bill that Jason sent you.
The number is 586-468-6300. There website is WWW.MACHPERFORMANCE.COM all it
really says, is that the kit is in the works, but he will be updating the
site with pics, when he get's them.

I think a turbo kit would be great. I wonder what size turbo they are going to use?

I don't know anything about Mach Performance though.

Don't know anything about Mach Performance.

Anyway, here a link to another company that has a twin turbo setup in development/testing stage for our truck (4.8L, 5.3L, and 6.0L). http://www.inductionconcepts.com I think this is great!! Pretty soon there might be a small market to choose a turbo setup from

I emailed these guys (Induction Concepts) and they said they were still looking for a GM truck to test some stuff on (not sure if they still need one now). They told me the kits will run well over $5,000, which is about what they will be from Mach based on their 4.3L turbo kit prices. That's not too bad, especially seeing how you can get WAY more boost than a SC and some SC's cost damn near as much anyway.

Induction Concepts sounds like a company that has their **** together. BTW, they said there GM truck twin turbo kit will be similar to their 4.6L Mustang/Bullit kit. Here's a quote from their website on that turbo kit (can you imagine that in our trucks )

quote:
This twin turbo system starts at 600 Rear Wheel Horsepower at ONLY 8-9psi, 800-850+ Horsepower at 12-13psi and is capable of 1200 Horsepower...if you have an engine stout enough to handle it! Compare that to most of our competitors kits that only produce mid-400 horsepower...and they don't say if that's Rear Wheel horsepower or Flywheel horsepower...We wonder why? Especially since that figure can mean a 15-20% difference (lower) in what is produced at the rear wheels. All boost is in by 2800rpm! Our kits are designed for the street, so all accessories are retained. It will idle and drive like a stocker...until you put your foot in it. Ahh, the beauty of turbos

That qoute is for the Mustang kit right. I don't think even a stock 6.0L is going to make 600rwhp on only 8-9psi but, I would love to be proven wrong.

This kit is basically what I would have liked to build for myself. Twin 60-1's and a nice 370ci iron motor or a big bore aluminum motor with stock crank.

Yes, that quote is for the Mustang kit. The guy that replied to my email stated that the truck kit wouldn't be too far off from those numbers. I too would like to see this kit be developed and tested instead of seeing numbers on paper.

I guess I could see 530-550rwhp at 9psi on a 6.0L.

The thing I like the most is the turbos they're going to use(60-1's). They will love a low compression, high flowing motor running around 12-14psi.

I'm keeping my eye on this kit.

i should have gone for the 4L80E, i hope they dont try and get too much money for that kit, i see the kit for the viper is 15K+ instaled.

anyone want to buy a whipple and a some ASM headers? just kidding, could be awhile before they actualy have a kit to sell, seems that eveyone underestamates the time it will take to bring something to production.

parish8 - I wouldn't worry about the Viper price. Corvette and Viper owners usually pay a premium for performance parts.

The 4L80E can evidently be built to take around 1200hp with some sort of warranty. The stock computer can handle it with some minor rewiring and reflashing. Maybe you should sell the 4L60E when it gets rebuilt(when?) and go this route?

Anyone want to buy a 422ci iron block motor when I get it.(Should be good for 11's in a reg. cab) Maybe I'll start building my own 370ci 8.5:1 motor while this kit is being made.

i think i am going to go with a iron 409, 4.030 bore and 4" stroke. is there any reason why a smaller stroke would be better other than miliage?

with a LARGE budget i could see a serious sleeper, high 10sec bone stock looking z71. that would be soo cool. probably be quiet too. i think part of the reason the tranny went so fast could have been my very violent launches, i am not going to wail on the truck till i get some smoother launches figured out. hoping an eaton will help, maybe work with my tire presures. a little wheel slip is ok but i want it to be smooth, should have that tranny this week.

i wonder how much money i could win racing a 10sec z71 that looks and sounds stock?

The only reason I would stay with the shorter stroke/less displacement is it's easier to get LOW compression(8.3-8.5:1). You can also run a LONG rod and still have plenty of room in the piston for lower ring lands and a longer pin height. The long rods also mean less side loading and better efficiency. Cubes don't mean a whole lot when you're forcing the air in anyway. One other reason for the shorter stroke is because for you at least it would be FREE. Hell, you have the motor to beef up already.

Good luck with the 4L60E. It looks like putting in a 4L80E will cost about 50% more than a built 60 but, it has 100% more capacity.
