Default True duals tomorrow.

I bought 2 27" magnaflows(6" round) and a X pipe all 2.5" piping. Tomorrow I'm going to a muffler shop, then on monday im taking it to this other shop (they're booked for tomorrow)and getting my cats removed(hes the only guy who does it). I know im going to feel some midrange and top end, especially when i remove the cats. about how much hp increase will this give me? Im guessing not much until i get the LTs on there.

Yeah, not much. In fact, true duals on a 5.3 will make for a loss of low end torque which will probably be the biggest difference you notice.

yea the exhaust shop was booked today. I have an appointment with them on monday. I hope it sounds good. Will the long tubes make much of a difference in sound?

you'll feel a gain in the mid-range and top end, but in my opinion you don't need true duals. but, it will sound good.

I want to see proof of this, a noticeable loss in low-end power. Who sees 2000rpms during a race anyways?

Read up on back pressure and such and you will see that it is true. Not many people see 2000 rpms during a race but I'm guessing you see 2000 rpms around town ALOT more than 5000. How many races are decided by dual exhaust? Dual exhaust isn't really a power adder but more of a mod only used to say you have it. Some people think true duals sound cool. I don't have true duals but I would bet I could outrun quite a few trucks with 'true duals'...

When you see 2000rpms around town you're <50% throttle probably.

My point being: Going slightly too big on your exhaust pipe size (dual 3" on a mild 5.3L) isn't going to kill you, or even hurt you enough to notice much.

dual 3" will hurt u, but dual 2.5" won't.I'm almost thinking about backing out now and buying pacesetter headers and y pipe? what do u guys think? I could put one magnaflow on and have a single 3" pipe coming infront of the rear passager tire.
