Default tsp v3 cam and 243 heads

I just got rid of my camaro and got a 2006 silverado. I still have new in the box tsp torquer v3 and a set of stock 243 heads that never got installed. I dont know much about the 5.3 and the compatibillity with the ls1. just wondering if that head and cam combo would do me any good on the truck, especially the heads. would I need to get them milled to bring the compression back up and is that too large of a cam for the 5.3. just lookin for a little more low end power nothin too radical. thanks in advance for any help.

cam is too big for a 5.3 unless you have one hell of a stall and gearing. heads would help it some but would need some milling to bump the compression for some low end.

That's a pretty aggresive cam for a 5.3. Yes you will need to mill the heads. You are going to need a big converter with that cam. If it's a single cab truck I would do it.

edit: If you are looking for a little more low end "nothing too radical" that h/c combo is not the way to go.

its an extended cab and I didnt really want to spend the money just yet for a new stall and gears. Any cam recomendations that would compliment those heads without having to get a stall. of course after i got the heads milled to bring the compression back up.

I wouldn't even bother buying someone elses used heads when you can get new 243's from Patriot for only $425 assembled. I know, sounds unbelievable but it's true. Just got mine the other week. New 243's with yellow valve springs and ready to roll.

What will the compression be with the Patriot's? What head gasket are you going to use?
