Tune went bad, help!!!
Ok so i just got a tune done and it went shitty. The tuner said that the cam i put in made no power. He said that it actually took away power from the truck. truck is in my signature. Only mods are long tubes, k&n cai, and a cam swap. here is the cam info- Comp Cam XFI™ RPM, XR269HR part #54-414-11
specs: rpm range 1300-6300
valve timing .006
lobe separation 114 degrees
intake centerline 112 degrees
intake exhaust
valve lash hyd hyd
duration 269 273
duration @ .050 lift 216 220
valve lift .525 .532
lobe lift .309 .313
i installed comp cams 5/16" 7.4" long hardened pushrods (part number 7955-16) and comp cams beehive springs part number 26915-16. i talked to several different people from both comp cams and summit racing and was told by every one i talked to that these components would make significant power over stock. the only difference the tuning made was the idle. went from around 5-600 to 900ish. it dynoed at 238, yes thats correct, 238. its always ran like a champ so here is my question. is this cam smaller than a stock cam or is there a chance i somehow messed up the install/or received the wrong cam?

Assuming the cam and supporting components were properly installed, I'd say you need a new tuner. That cam should definitely make more power. Might want to double check to make sure you got the right pushrod length.

that part number and length of what i installed is what was recommended by both comp cams and summit racing. do you think maybe theres a chance that the cam is right and that the reason power is lacking is cuz the rods need to be shorter/or longer?

The stock pushrod length is 7.4" like what you used and if that cam uses stock base circle it should be ok. But, I always like to check and measure things myself to make sure.
I don't know who your tuner is, maybe he's great, maybe not. But, tuning for a bigger cam does require advance tuning skills.

If Comp Cams recommended the 7.4 pushrods, I'm assuming the cam base circle is probably stock sized. To measure pushrod length, you need a Comp Cams adjustable pushrod. Do a search over at LS1tech to see how to do the actual measurements. I'm still leaning toward inadequate tune though. Did the tuner use a wideband? If so, what was the WOT A/F ratio? What was the injector duty cycle? Are you throwing any codes? I'd probably do a compression check just to eliminate that from being a problem.

Normally it is good practice to measure for pushrod length using a pushrod length checker. I would say without a doubt your tuner is an idiot or something was installed wrong. It could be something simple that was missed or your tuner hasn't ever tuned for a Cam. That cam has been proven to make power many times. You should have picked up at least 50hp.
