Default turbo kit update

A few of you guys have been following my progress with the cmotorsports turbo kit. There has been some progress. The header that cracked has been replaced. The last few missing parts like the correct radiator cap and some other little stuff has all arrived. The only problem left is the waste gate hitting on the shock tower and Sam called me to update me on that situation. They have a 4wd caddy (I think) in the shop and they ran into the exact same problems as I did. They are working on a new header/down pipe/cross over for that truck. He said he will be sending me all the new piping as soon as it is ready.

It is taking some time but I have to say cmotorsports did not abandon me, they are making good on their promises of taking care of any problems and are keeping me informed. They actually called me the last couple of times. They are the first place I call for other parts as well like valve springs and plug wires.

The way I see it the 2 main FI set ups worth thinking about are the radix and a turbo kit. For most people I think the radix will still be the better route. It is a well put together kit that most people could install and get the advertised results with minimal problems. The radix seems to be close to OEM quality.

The turbo kit has the ability to make WAY more power and is great for anyone looking to push things. It sounds awesome, looks cool, is different, makes more power with less stress on the motor, no pulleys to change, no need for headers. It requires more skill to install and isn't as refined as the radix kit.

good to hear there are some businesses out there that actually check up on their customers and dont forget about them after they get their money. The fact that they called you actually blows me away after dealing with my situation the last month - I wont get into details but I pretty much have to keep calling the businesses to keep the ball rolling, If I never called, or didn't keep calling.....I almost doubt I'd ever see my Radix kit.....

Parish ... that's good that they are taking care of you like that. I wish more vendors cared that much about thier customers.

after posting that, I noticed I had a voicemail, and it was from Magnacharger letting me know that the heat-exhanger brackets that I called about a MONTH ago were available......that was pretty impressive

although I'd rather them call me and tell me my kit has shipped

the engine will be awhile i am sure. i just shiped the core up there about a week ago and it hasn't even cleared customs yet

I am hoping the tranny is ready to ship in a week or so. i talked to Chuck at FLP for awhile and Terry at Precision for probably 1/2 hour about converters. Chuck is also talking to Terry so everyone is comunicating and knows exactly what i have planed.

Chuck told me he has most of the parts there for the build. he said something about puting the hard core parts into it that he puts into his 8sec t400 trannys.

i think i will crank the boost when i get it on the road again. it was easier to run moderate boost and add nitrous for that extra hit but i am going to go ahead and tune it for more boost. i wonder if it will hold 20psi?

Leave it to Parish to find the limits of parts!

With a turbo, the engine doesn't have to run the compressor off of the crank snout.

there are at least 2 reasons for this. the whipple i had before was using 70+hp to run. that is power that the engine has to make but doesn't get to the tranny.

the 2nd is the back presure casued by the turbo. the highest load on rods is when the piston gets to the top of the exhaust stroke and tries to fly out the top of the motor but gets yanked right back down on the intake stroke. with a turbo there is exhaust presure and intake presure that are always pushing down on the piston. the rods can handle the compresive loads much easier than the stretching loads.
