Turned the boost up to 8lbs.
Went to the track last night to see how much I lost with the 4l80e swap. I was guessing about .4-.6. I had a 2600 stall with the 4l60e. My 60 ft times were 2.1x-2.2x. With the 4l80e and stock stall the best I could manage was high 2.4s. I did manage a 2.37 using a Harlan 2-step. Now for the good stuff. I installed a boost controller. It is just a cheap thumb screw type with a lock down nut. I had to play with it for 5-6 passes before I got it set to 8 lbs. That was a pain in the butt. It was hot and humid last night. The da was around 2600. I could only manage high 13s and my best et of the night was a 13.76. My best with the 4l60e and stall was 13.18 in cooler weather. My old trap speeds were 104-105 mph. Last night I was trapping 109-110. My best was 110.87. I had more people asking me what I had done to the truck than I could beat off with a stick. Once I get a stall this thing will be unbelievable. If anyone is tuning a turbo don't even think about tuning it on a dyno. The track gives you real world results that a dyno cannot duplicate. At 8 psi on a stock 5.3 except for mods in sig the 5.3 is making 487 rwhp thru a 4l80e or 575 at the crank. I was hoping to make a little more power than this with a 5.7 and 11-12lbs. of boost. My goal with the truck was to run 12.5 on street tires and no weight reduction. I believe I can achieve that goal with a stall and cooler weather. Oh, did I mention how much I love turbos.
