the bypass valve on the twin screw is not nearly as affective as on the modified roots for the reasons you stated above......how do you bleed off something compressed between rotors? I know, question with a question.
I agree a twin screw is more reliable than a turbo, but thats a whole'nother can. F8L will tell you all about it, I'm sure.
