unplugged Knock sensors
I unplugged my knock sensors tonight just to see what would happen. it ran great until i got to about 65% throttle. after that i had constand 8deg kr. my timing dropped to 7deg. lol that ain't right!!! Anyway, i'm certain i'm getting false knock when they are plugged in, i bought new ones but didn't realize what a pain in the ***** it is to change them. I'm thinking of either leaving them unplugged but adding 8deg timng in the upper range OR leaving them plugged in and desensitizing them. tough call. either way i don't have my god damn interface cable yet from hptuners. they mailled it on june 3rd. i guess they must have sent it by foot cause i don't have it yet. sweet!!!!

Definately leave them plugged up and make sure the knock is false first before trying to tune the knock out.
I thought unplugging them would give you a constant 4 degrees of KR but, things may have changed over the years. It probably puts you in the low octane timing map also.

Have you tried running any high octane gas? 100 or 110? That would be a good way to tell if the knock is false. Might also try a bigger pully on the whipple to see how the knock does with less boost. I wouldnt leave then knock sensors unplugged either
and would leave desensitizing them as a last resort

Where are you getting the KR? If it's on a shift or when it downshifts after hammering it, check under the truck for stuff rattling around, more specifically, exhaust pipes.
Leaving them unhooked doesn't sound like a good idea at all. If anything, set the gain up a lot more than what it's at. I think stock setting it recovers at a rate of .015 or something similar. Set it to .75.

the knock is mostly during shifts up and down. often at wot, and sometimes when the tcc is locked and i give it light throttle. I do sometimes hear what sounds like pennies dropping into a glass jar. i'm told that is what detonation sounds like. Lets suppose it is REAL knock. What is it mosly likely caused by and how do i fix it? Is it the pistons, or lifters etc. I know nothing about engines. I tried 100 octane and the knock didn't seem to go away. I'll try it again this week. I will also say that i've been waiting for over a month for HPtuners to send me my god damn EIO cable so i can hook up the wideband and i still don't have it. I'm sure my VE table is a mess and I'm sure my PE table is a mess. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Flyer are you talking about the knock fast recovery rate vs. RPM? I am sure my knock is false and this table has .015 at 0RPM to 2000RPM then .016 at 2800 to 3200RPM then .013 at 3600 then from 4000 on it's .010.
My setup is noisy. I know I got **** loads of racket going on. Plus with 110 octane it's still there. Allen is my tuner FWIW... I dabble when I have time. The only scary thing about my knock is it's not on the shifts. It's on accelerating...however it will decay away. (If I stay on it).
You think .075 is good...all the way across the RPM band? I mean that is a 500% change in value.
Thanks a ton
